Frequently asked questions

Wavvy Beam can't find my TV. What should I check?

Your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
VPN is off on your phone.
Your router does not isolate devices from each other (AP or client isolation is off).
On Samsung, LG and Sony TVs, the TV is on and screen sharing or DLNA/media sharing is allowed.
Still nothing? Restart the TV and the router, then tap Search again.

Which formats can I cast?

Wavvy Beam sends the file as it is, so what plays depends on your TV or Cast device. MP4 with H.264 and AAC works almost everywhere. MKV, HEVC and WebM play on many newer Chromecast and smart TV models. Some TVs cannot play DTS or AC3 audio. Music (MP3, AAC, FLAC on many devices) and photos (JPG, PNG) are supported too, and subtitles are sent as WebVTT to Chromecast and as SRT to DLNA TVs.

Is Wavvy Beam made by Google, Samsung, LG or Sony?

No. Wavvy Beam is an independent app by Rize Teknoloji. It works with Chromecast and Android TV and with DLNA smart TVs, but it is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Google, Samsung, LG or Sony.

Is the TV remote free?

Yes. The Android TV and Google TV remote is always free, with no ads and no time limit, including the keyboard and voice search.

Does casting stop when I lock my phone?

No. While you cast, Wavvy Beam keeps a small media server running with a notification, so the video keeps playing on your TV when your phone's screen is off or locked. You can pause, seek and stop from the notification.

Can I cast YouTube videos?

No. YouTube is not supported. Use the cast button inside the YouTube app. Wavvy Beam does not download videos from websites.

Are there ads?

Never while you cast, never on the remote and never when the app opens. After the 7-day trial, the free version on phones lets you watch one short ad of your choice to unlock 3 hours. Android TV has no ads. Pro has no ads.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Files go from your phone straight to your TV over your own Wi-Fi, through a temporary local server with random addresses. Nothing passes through our servers. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
